Activity: Seed to Plant Sequencing

This week we will take a look at the development and growth of a plant from seed to plant by looking closely at the different steps of growth and putting them in the correct order. After finishing the activity, spend some time observing plants in your garden, yard, or the woods. Which stage of growth do you think they are at?

Materials: Strips of paper– cut an 8.5 by 11 inch piece of paper long way
so you get two pieces 4.25 by 11 inches. Fold it up so it becomes an accordion with 4 sections
Crayons/markers

What happens to a seed when you plant it? Discuss the changes it goes through and the steps it takes towards becoming a plant.

Label each section of your accordion book- seed, sprout, seedling, and plant

Find pictures online of each step, or observe plants outside in your yard or garden and draw a picture of each step.
