Garden and Farm Literacy

We led a teacher training workshop on incorporating books and activities about farms, gardens, food systems and nutrition into the classroom. For this workshop we focused on seeds -- a unit that we explore and study with every grade from preschool to 12th. Kaila demonstrated how to grow pea shoots in the classroom windowsill; Meg showed us how to sprout seeds in a plastic container for easy observation of roots and shoots.
